Reliability
Reliability continues to be a chief concern in the New England region, particularly with the increase in frequency of energy scarcity events when there is insufficient generation to satisfy the demand. Merrimack Station will continue to operate through 2028 serving as a safe and reliable generation for this need. Optimizing the grid for reliability requires a balanced mix of generation – our energy parks will focus on meeting reliability in a cost-efficient manner.
With the continued electrification of economy and increase in intermittent generating resources to meet shared decarbonization goals, reliable, clean on-demand generating resources will be critical day-in and day-out. Our investment in renewable energy infrastructure and energy storage projects will attract new businesses and industries to New Hampshire. It has taken significant effort to get to this point and more work is to be done before construction begins. If New Hampshire is going to benefit from the energy transition and clean energy opportunities – not only decarbonization efforts but also economic growth – it will be imperative these projects are supported.
