Essential Resources
Granite Shore Power’s existing fleet of fuel-diverse generating assets are vital resources when energy demands are at their highest. GSP’s fleet is available 24-7-365 to provide secure and reliable electric generation on New England’s most vulnerable power need days. GSP facilities supply the electricity that allows our homes to be heated, and our businesses to operate, when alternative energy sources are not available.
As part of the company’s long-standing repowering plan, in March 2024, Granite Shore Power set a voluntary firm closure date for coal-fired operations at its Schiller and Merrimack stations and announced the creation of first-of-their-kind “Clean Energy Parks” in the state of New Hampshire. The transformation of these power plants into new, clean energy facilities will mark the end of coal-fired generation in New England and facilitate exciting new economic growth at each location.
Schiller Station and Merrimack Station have been an important, yet limited, part of New Hampshire’s energy infrastructure for many years now and will continue to be essential resources while GSP takes the bold step to redevelop these facilities to a cleaner energy future.
